Hoboken Man Allegedly Burglarized Construction Site: Police

Hoboken police charged a Union City man with burglary after he allegedly stole $1,000 of light fixtures from a construction site.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police charged a Union City man with burglary last week after he allegedly stole $1,000 of light fixtures from a local construction site, authorities said.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, officers received reports of burglaries at local construction sites on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3. Nothing was found missing in the first incident, but during the second incident about $1,000 of light fixtures were stolen.

After conducting an investigation, Hoboken police identified Augusto Agostini, 36, of Union City, as the alleged burglar.

Police said they found Agostini in a car in Jersey City on Saturday evening and arrested him, finding alleged proceeds from one of the burglaries in the vehicle, along with an unspecified amount of marijuana.

A check found an outstanding warrant out of the City of Jersey City for “similar offenses,” police said.

Authorities charged Agostini with burglary, theft, bail jumping and marijuana possession. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
