HOBOKEN, NJ — A man allegedly stole a car in Hoboken and led a police officer on a brief chase before escaping on Saturday. He was arrested later after crashing the vehicle in Weehawken, authorities said.
According to the Hoboken Police Department, while patrolling the area of 4th and Jackson streets around 9:26 p.m., an officer saw a man running after a 2008 Nissan. The man told the officer that he was the owner of the car, which had just been stolen.
The officer immediately began to follow the Nissan and attempted to stop the driver on Harrison Street with no success before ending the pursuit for “safety reasons,” authorities said.
