Hoboken Man Helps Cops Catch Alleged Armed Robber
Hoboken police said that the man was able to identify the suspect who allegedly robbed him at knife point at 4th and Monroe Streets.

A Hoboken resident was able to identify a man who allegedly robbed him at knifepoint on Sunday night, helping police to make an arrest, authorities stated.
According to the Hoboken Police Department, the resident told officers that around 11:12 p.m., a man robbed him at knifepoint in the area of 4th and Monroe Streets.
The victim told police that the man then fled with his wallet and cellphone.

Police stated that one officer located some of the wallet’s contents on 5th Street, while another officer stopped a male fitting the suspect’s description on Monroe Street.
Once the suspect was detained, police transported the victim to their location where he was able to positively identify the man as the person who allegedly robbed him, authorities said.

At that time police arrested Matthew Trontz, 23, of Edgewater, and charged him with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of weapons.
Trontz also has an active Failure To Appear warrant for his arrest out of Newark for $1,000, police added.
Trontz’s bail was set at $25,000 with no 10 percent option, and he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
