Hoboken Man Tries To Sell Undercover Cop Stolen iPhone

The man claimed that he found the phone on the train, police say.

A Hoboken man may have tried to sell a stolen iPhone to the wrong person... an undercover cop.

Hoboken police report that during evening rush hour on Tuesday, Tyrone Johnson, 55, attempted to sell a plainclothes detective a gold-colored iPhone 6 on Washington Street.

When confronted, Johnson allegedly told the officer that he found the phone on the train.

Police arrested Johnson and charged him with receiving stolen property. He was given a $2,500 bail and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility due to his history of failure to appear in court.

The phone was returned to its owner.
