Hoboken Announces Replacements For 2 City Administrators

The City of Hoboken announced the impending departures of the city's Director of Community Development and Communications Manager.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The City of Hoboken has announced the impending departures of the city’s Director of Community Development Brandy Forbes and Communications Manager Santiago Melli-Huber, as well as their incoming replacements.

According to a city news release, Forbes’ last day in City Hall will be Dec. 7, and Santiago Melli-Huber’s last day will be Dec. 14.

“I greatly appreciate the service to our Mile Square that both Santiago and Brandy demonstrated during their tenure working for the City,” Mayor Ravi Bhalla said. “I wish them well on their next endeavor and in their professional careers.”

INCOMING ADMINS

On Nov. 27, Bhalla announced the appointment of Chris Brown to lead the Community Development department as its Director and Vijay Chaudhuri as Hoboken’s new Communications Manager and Policy Adviser.

According to Bhalla's office, Brown has served as a City’s Principal Planner in the Community Development Department for the past seven years and holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning.

Chaudhuri was previously Mayor Dawn Zimmer’s Chief of Staff and has served as a Congressional aide.

Brown will oversee all property development in Hoboken, as well as the Planning and Zoning offices. Chaudhuri will manage all communications from the City and be the point of contact for all media inquiries.

“Both Chris and Vijay have proven track records of great service to our City, and I am confident that this will continue in their new roles,” said Bhalla. “Each of them has the skillset to move our City forward and I am grateful for their willingness to serve our residents,” added Bhalla.

Brown will serve as Acting Director until his confirmation before the City Council. His confirmation can take place at the December 5 City Council meeting. Chaudhuri’s first day back in City Hall will be Wednesday, December 5.
