Hoboken Police Move Event To August; NWS Extends 'Heat Advisory' Through Sunday
As Hoboken swelters in a dangerous heat wave (see forecast and watches below) the police rescheduled a family event uptown for August.
HOBOKEN, NJ — After scheduling the latest in a series of family-friendly police popup events for this Thursday night, the Hoboken police said they're postponing it to Aug. 4 due to the heatwave.
Meanwhile, the county of Hudson advised of soaring temps and told residents to check on neighbors (see message below).

"CANCELLED!" the police wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "Due to extreme weather conditions, this event will be rescheduled! Keep your eyes peeled for the new date! Stay cool! @HobokenPD"
The "Game Night" was planned for Eleventh Street, from Bloomfield to Garden, in conjunction with HOPES and the Hoboken library.

The police have a series of events planned to meet the community, and are moving them around town. The event will instead take place from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 4.
Temperatures Near 100: Find Out When
The National Weather Service predicted highs in the 90s in the next few days, and a possible "heat index" of 102 Thursday. They predicted a high of 98 on Sunday.
As a result, they have extended their "Heat Advisory" through Sunday at 8 p.m. (See the full forecast here.)
The County of Hudson sent out an email message on Wednesday morning advising residents of excessive temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.
They advised residents to avoid the heat and potential health complications, and to check on vulnerable populations such as elderly, children, and pets.
They warned of heat cramps, and more, advising residents to "Go to a cooler location. Remove excess clothing. Take sips of cool sports drinks with salt and sugar. Get medical help if cramps last more than an hour."
