Hoboken Police Charge 3rd Person With Assault After Stabbing

Hoboken police have charged a third person with aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing that took place on 11th and Adams streets.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police have charged a third person with aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing that took place on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

On Thursday, the Hoboken Police Department announced that a third arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing that happened on 11th and Adams streets.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, officers responded to the area of 11th and Adams streets after receiving a report about a man "screaming for help." On arrival, the officers found that the victim – who was stabbed 10 times in different parts of his body– had already been transported to Hoboken University Medical Center.

Officers later spoke with the victim, who said he was able to flee the area towards 11th and Adams Street, where friends found him and transported him to the hospital.

The victim told officers that he was lured into the area by "a former acquaintance," when he was approached from behind by a group of three people. As the victim attempted to flee, he was tripped and fell to the ground, and someone began to stab him repeatedly with a knife, police said.

All the assailants then fled the scene, police said.

Hoboken police released the following details about the incident on Tuesday afternoon:

"The attack was not random and the victim was familiar with the assailants. Detectives immediately responded to the scene and followed up with the investigation. At this time, two have been charged with the attack and are currently being processed for the crimes committed. They are an adult male and female who reside in the City of Guttenberg. The crimes they have been charged with range from aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim and weapons offenses. They will be remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center once fully processed."

On Wednesday, Hoboken police issued an updated statement, identifying Alexis Angulo, 18, of Guttenberg, as the assailant who allegedly stabbed the victim. Angulo was charged with aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities said.

Police identified the second arrestee as Santos Gonzalez, 18, of Guttenberg, who was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and endangering an injured victim.

On Thursday, police announced that a third person, Jason Rodriguez, 20, of Guttenberg, was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and endangering an injured victim.

A police investigation is ongoing and other parties "are being actively sought to explain their roles in this matter," authorities said Thursday.
