Hoboken Police: Homeless Man Lights Self on Fire

Incident took place during city's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration

Hoboken police are reporting that a homeless man attempted to light himself on fire in the middle of Bloomfield and Fourth streets during the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

NJ.com stated that the incident took place around 11 p.m., when police received a call that the man was trying to set himself on fire. When police arrived on the scene, the man was already ablaze, but officers helped him to drop and roll to put out the flames.

The man was not seriously injured, said police, and was transported to Hoboken University Medical Center.
