Missing Hoboken Man Found Dead: Last Seen Leaving Bar During Blizzard
Matthew Genovese was last seen leaving a Hoboken bar during the final hours of a blizzard, police said.

Hoboken, NJ – A Hoboken man reported missing and last seen leaving a bar during this weekend’s blizzard was found deceased, authorities stated.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Hoboken police said that the body of Matthew Genovese was recovered in the frigid waters of the Hudson River.
Authorities stated that they found Genovese’s keys and wallet near Pier A Park.

There are no signs of foul play, police stated.
According to police, Genovese was last seen leaving McSwiggan’s Pub between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. on the night of Saturday, Jan. 23.

Genovese stated that he was walking home - a brief, ten-minute walk that he had done before, police said.
Caroline Manzo of Bravo’s “Manzod With Children” put out a call for help on Monday on Twitter, asking the public to help find Genovese, a “relative of her son-in-law.”
Manzo posted a sad update on Tuesday:
“Thank you so much for sharing and prayers,” she wrote. “Unfortunately, this story didn’t end as we had hoped. Matthew’s body was found earlier today. May God rest his soul and give his family the strength they need to get through this tragedy.”
Genovese’s death wasn’t the only recent tragedy to take place along the Hoboken waterfront.
On Christmas Day, emergency responders recovered the body of Anthony Urena, 23, of Manhattan, NY, a student at Lehman College, in the Hudson River.
New York City police stated that Urena was last seen leaving a Manhattan night club at around 5 a.m. on Nov. 14, according to ABC NY.

Last year, the body of 27-year-old Andrew Jarzyk was found in the Hudson River near Lackawanna Terminal.
Jarzyk went missing and was last seen jogging along the waterfront at about 2 a.m. that morning, authorities stated.
