Hoboken Police Recover Stolen Bike Before It's Reported Missing
The police were on patrol and saw some suspicious activity near a bike. A chase ensued.

HOBOKEN, NJ — If you see something, say something. The Hoboken police did so on Saturday night after they spotted some unusual activity while on patrol in an unmarked car.
According to police, on Saturday around 9:35 p.m., detectives Adam Colon and John Quinones were driving northbound on Washington Street. Quinones observed a male he believed was attempting to steal a bicycle in the area of 10th and Washington streets.
Colon performed a U-turn. According to police, they observed a suspect remove a bicycle from a bicycle rack and walk northbound with the bicycle.

Quinones exited the vehicle and examined the bicycle rack. He found a cut bicycle lock. Colon drove north and saw the suspect up the block. He exited the car and asked the man to stop.
According to police, the suspect got on the bike and headed north, with Colon and Quinones chasing him on foot. They lost him near Eleventh and Garden streets.

Police said that around 9:43 p.m., Officer Michael Straten stopped a male fitting the discerption in the area of 308 Eighth Street. This male was identified as Jose Rosado 42 years old from Hoboken. However, he was not in possession of a bicycle.
Colon and Quinones responded and identified him as the man they'd tried to stop. Rosado was placed under arrest and searched.
Police said they found bolt cutters, drug paraphernalia, and "a small clear plastic bag believed to contain marijuana."
The bike was located at 211 Eleventh St.
Rosado was charged with theft, burglar’s tool, criminal mischief, resisting arrest by flight, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. All charges were placed on a summons and Rosado was released with a court date.
Sunday around 5:45 p.m., the owner of the bicycle called police headquarters to report her bicycle missing. She was informed of how to get her bike back.
