Hoboken Police Strike Team Gives 21 Tickets On 15th Street
Hoboken Police: Violations included running stop signs, talking on cell phones, parking, seat belts and failure to yield.

HOBOKEN, NJ — In response to complaints from local residents, a Hoboken Police Department strike team conducted an enforcement operation on 15th Street last weekend, authorities said.
According to Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante, Sunday’s operation resulted in 21 tickets in the space of a few hours, including:
- 11 summonses for stop signs
- 4 for cell phones
- 3 parking tickets
- 2 seat belt-related tickets
- 1 ticket for failing to yield to pedestrian crossing
Juan Melli, a former Hoboken City spokesperson, tweeted that “it’s worth noting that it isn’t an indication of insufficient enforcement; it’s sign that the street is poorly engineered.”

This is good, and it’s worth noting that it isn’t an indication of insufficient enforcement; it’s sign that the street is poorly engineered. You would need 24/7 enforcement to achieve the continuous safety benefits of a well-designed street. https://t.co/L3CuqpKb83
