Hoboken Police Track Down Alleged Shooter 'Hiding' In Bayonne
Hoboken police arrested a suspected shooter with the help of their peers in Bayonne and Jersey City.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police located and arrested a Jersey City man after he allegedly fired gunshots at another man last month, then fled the scene and hid out in Bayonne, authorities said.
On Thursday, the Hoboken Police Department announced that police arrested Anthony Ciprian, 19, of Jersey City, with the aid of their peers in Bayonne and Jersey City.
Ciprian was wanted on charges including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm following his alleged involvement in a shooting that took place around 8 p.m. on July 1 in the area of 3rd and Harrison streets, Hoboken police said.

On the night of the alleged shooting, Hoboken officers arrived on the scene and canvassed the area for victims or suspects, but found neither. The officers then attempted to interview several witnesses in the area, but the residents either “would not cooperate” or “provided minor details,” police said.
“Those who cooperated were able to describe a person exiting a vehicle while wearing a hood, shoot several rounds at the direction of a male, then enter the vehicle and flee,” police stated.

Hoboken detectives investigating the shooting spoke to additional witnesses and collected evidence that led them to Jersey City, where they continued to follow their leads, authorities said. On July 18, with investigative help from the Jersey City Police Department, detectives named Ciprian as a suspect in the shooting and acquired a warrant for his arrest.
Detectives from the two agencies then began attempting to find Ciprian, who was “hiding,” Hoboken police said.
Eventually, a Hoboken detective received information that Ciprian was possibly staying in Bayonne. With assistance from Bayonne police, authorities apprehended Ciprian and transported him to Hoboken police headquarters for processing, where it was discovered that he also had an outstanding warrant from Jersey City for an assault charge.
Police charged Ciprian with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon (Firearm), Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, Bail Jumping, Possession of CDS Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.
Authorities transported Ciprian to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
