Recent COVID-19 Numbers, And Death Toll
The city said recently that from Aug. 6-19, a total of 138 cases were reported and confirmed in town. With people doing at-home testing and leaving for vacations, the case numbers may not represent the true total for residents.
"Please note, some of the above cases reflect backlogged reporting via the lab," the city noted.
There have been a total of 13,622 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hoboken since the start of the pandemic. The city's population is approximately 60,000.
"Unfortunately, another resident in his/her 90s passed away after contracting COVID-19 - my deepest condolences to all friends and family," wrote the city in late August. "The city has now lost a total of 66 individuals since the pandemic began. Hoboken University Medical Center is not currently treating anyone with COVID-19."
This is a change from this past January, when 40 people were being treated at the local hospital for the virus. By June, that number was down to 2.
