Hoboken’s ‘Cake Boss’ Sets World Record For Frosting Cupcakes
New Jersey's "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro smashed the previous record. (VIDEO)

HOBOKEN, NJ — There is a new world record holder for the “most cupcakes frosted in under a minute.” And his name is familiar to Hoboken and New Jersey foodies: “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro.
On Monday’s episode of the Rachael Ray Show, Valastro set his sights on beating the previous record of 15 cupcakes. According to Casey DeSantis of Guinness World Records, the rules were simple:
- Each cupcake had to have an upper diameter with a minimum of three inches
- The participant must start the attempt with both hands flat on the table
- The tops of the cupcakes had to be “completely covered” with icing
With such thin margins for success, every little factor played a role.

“There’s a couple of crooked cupcakes here, Rachael,” Valastro joked. “I didn’t wanna say nothing… but I’m gonna make it work.”
However, it proved to be smooth sailing for the recently elected New Jersey Hall of Fame member, who smashed the previous record with 20 cupcakes. Watch the video below.
