Hoboken Shelter Hosts 17th Annual Winter Auction Online
The six-hour live event this Saturday will help Hoboken's Homeless.
HOBOKEN, NJ — For the 17th Annual Winter Auction, The Hoboken Shelter will host its first ever Virtual Silent Auction, one of the community’s most popular December events. Auction prizes have been donated from Hoboken’s best businesses: stores, restaurants and service providers who have been so generous in this challenging year.
The 17th Annual Winter Auction will take place Saturday, December 12th in a live broadcast from 6 to midnight.
“All proceeds support the Shelter’s programs, which aim to ‘end homelessness one person at a time’,” says Jaclyn Cherubini, the Shelter’s Executive Director. “Last year we were able to serve 15,000 meals with the money raised at the Winter Auction. It’s a night celebrating friends, food, and fun. We like to think of it as Hoboken’s Holiday party.” The event will feature interviews, music, trivia, and demos of holiday cocktails.

Board member and Auction Committee Chair Hannah Osterman says, “We have over 40 fantastic prizes, with some opening bids starting at $10! The 6 hours will be filled with comedy, video clips, and entertainment. It’s been very exciting being a part of the team taking this important Shelter event online.”
Part of the night’s events will include an acknowledgement of the 93 people the Shelter helped to become successfully housed in 2020. “The Shelter staff, volunteers, and board work very hard to, as Jaclyn said, ‘end homelessness, one person at a time’”, says Lois Dilivio who is volunteering as Co-Creative & Technical Director. “The Shelter’s ability to help people from the street, through its shelter, to their own home is an important community service. Although we call it an ‘Auction’,” Dilivio adds, “this event is our celebration of a year’s work and a look forward to the good we can do in 2021. Please join us, it'll be great fun!”
