Hoboken St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl: ‘LepreCon’ Arrests Down For 2017
Hoboken police say that the pub crawl formerly known as "LepreCon" included assault, DWI and public urination.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police reported 11 arrests during the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl, down from 15 the previous year, authorities say.
The pub crawl, formerly known as “LepreCon,” is held on the first Saturday of March. For 2017, the bash included more than 20 local bars, according to the event website.
Previous incarnations of the annual festival – which is not sponsored by the City of Hoboken – have commonly included arrests for assault and DWI, as well as offenses such as urinating in public, disorderly house parties and disorderly conduct.

Here are some statistics from the weekend, according to Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante:
- There were 477 calls for service from 8 a.m. on Saturday to 4 a.m. on Sunday, an increase from 432 in 2016 (due to “proactive policing and motor vehicle summonses”)
- There were 11 arrests during the pub crawl, a decrease from 15 in 2016 (charges included simple assault, obstruction of justice, DWI and resisting arrest)
- Police issued 31 city ordinance summonses, down from 54 in 2016 (“almost all drinking in public offenses with a few urination and criminal mischief violations”)
- For the second year in a row, there were no complaints made against police officers
- There weren't any injured officers in 2017 (two suffered injuries last year)
- As in 2016, there were no sexual assaults reported
- The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported 28 people to Hoboken CarePoint Hospital, a decrease from 35 in 2016 (none suffered serious injury)
- Civilian staff of Hoboken Police Department communications division handled 477 calls
As he did during the 2016 celebration, Ferrante provided a running Twitter update from the law enforcement perspective.
