Hoboken Street Renamed As Tribute To Leo's Grandevous Restaurant
Hoboken Mayor: "No restaurant embodies the Hoboken spirit more than Leo's."

HOBOKEN, NJ — “Over the past 80 years, many things have changed in our Mile Square, but one has remained the same… the family tradition of Hoboken's oldest restaurant, Leo's Grandevous.”
Those words from Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla capped off a recent street renaming ceremony that paid a well-deserved tribute to one of the city’s most popular restaurants, Leo’s Grandevous.
On Saturday, a sign reading “Leo’s Way” was unveiled at the corner of 2nd and Grand Street next to the restaurant as co-owners Grace Sciancalepore and Nick DePalma proudly stood by. The ceremony took place during a block party held by Leo’s Grandevous’ for its 80th anniversary in Hoboken.

The staff of Leo’s are especially fond of the city’s connection to Frank Sinatra. Visitors who walk into the local restaurant are treated to an assortment of Sinatra memorabilia and photos, along with a sampling of his music.
“No restaurant embodies the Hoboken spirit more than Leo's, and to this day, it remains a premier destination to enjoy authentic Italian food and appreciate the legacy of Frank Sinatra,” Bhalla said. “We are proud to recognize all the DiTerlizzi family has contributed to our city with an honorary street renaming and congratulate Grace Sciancalepore and Nick DePalma on this incredible milestone.”

Sciancalepore said that the restaurant and its staff were “extremely proud” to have been part of the Hoboken community for the past eight decades.
“We are so happy to be a source of Hoboken tradition,” Sciancalepore said.
According to a city news release, Leo’s Grandevous was established in 1939 by the late Leo and Tessie DiTerlizzi. The eatery is currently run by their grandchildren and third-generation Hoboken residents, DePalma and Sciancalepore.
