Hoboken Students Create 'Drain Mural' At 4th and Bloomfield
"Only rain down our drain," reads the mural.
Hoboken, NJ – “Only rain down our drain,” reads the mural.
The Hoboken Charter Upper School recently partnered with the Hoboken Green Team and the Hackensack Watershed Ambassador’s Drain Mural Project 2016 to create a colorful “drain mural” on the corner of 4th and Bloomfield.
The six-block mural – which took students three days to complete - features colorful fish and raindrops that lead to the storm drain, now emblazoned with the message, “Only Rain Down our Drain.”

The project was conducted under the guidance of art teacher and service learning coordinator Mira Septimus.
“They did an amazing job”, said Septimus. “The art combined with the service learning component was a perfect project for our students. They took ownership of the learning, creating and educating parts of the project. It was a wonderful experience to be a part of.”
The Hoboken Charter Upper School plans to paint another drain mural, Septimus stated.
