HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken teen Dylan Zajac founded the Hoboken based non-profit Computers 4 People at age 15 in 2019, using his technical knowledge to fix donated computers and give them to individuals and organizations who need them. In fact, they've already donated 900 computers to others.

His group would like to donate 1,000 more in the next year, but they need funds. Those who support the cause can attend an upcoming fundraiser next Wednesday and enjoy cocktails at the Hoboken Biergarten.

"Our main program contains collecting, refurbishing, and donating computers to individuals and organizations in under-resourced communities to promote equity and access to opportunity," Zajac explained last week.

"Our computers have impacted 900 low-income individuals allowing: getting jobs, continuing a quality education, and connecting with family and friends," Zajac said.

The non-profit recently opened a storefront in Hoboken and has scheduled an event for Aug. 4, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Hoboken's Pilsener Haus & Biergarten. The event includes a cocktail hour followed by a buffet style dinner, live music, auction, and guest speakers.

Computers 4 People needs to raise $60,000 by August to hire a program director, Zajac said. That will help the organization grow.

"If we make this happen, in the next 12 months, Computers 4 People can donate 1,000 computers, impact 4,500 individuals, and save 20,000lbs of toxic E-waste from polluting the environment!"

"We are looking for event sponsors and to invite as many supporters and community members as possible," noted the teen, who attends school in New York City.
