Hoboken Woman Charged With Spitting On Officer

Hoboken police charged a local woman with aggravated assault and throwing bodily fluid at officers.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police charged a local woman with aggravated assault and throwing bodily fluid at officers after she allegedly got belligerent with officers responding to a noise complaint last weekend, authorities say.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of Jackson Street at 11:05 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a noise complaint. On arrival, the officers spoke with the owner of the residence about the noise level. At that time, Monica Rodriguez, 35, of Hoboken, allegedly walked outside with a bottle of beer in her hand.

When officers asked Rodriguez to discard the beer, she allegedly refused and became “irate,” police said.

Rodriguez refused to leave the scene and began to shout at the officers, at which point she was arrested, authorities said.

At headquarters, she allegedly refused to leave the police car and spat on an officer, authorities said.

The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Unit eventually transported Rodriguez to Hoboken University Medical Center due to her “state of intoxication,” police said.

Authorities issued Rodriguez a warrant complaint for two counts of throwing bodily fluid, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and bail jumping. She will be transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility once her treatment is complete at the hospital, police said.
