Hoboken Woman Sees Stranger In Her Home Via Camera, Calls Police

A Hoboken man was charged with burglary after a woman told police she'd spotted a stranger in her home via a security camera.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Police arrested a 45-year-old Hoboken man after a woman told them she spotted an intruder her home via a security camera, police said.

On Monday around 1 p.m., Sgt. David DiMartino, Officer Roberto Cuevas, Officer Jason Montalvo, and Sgt. Christopher LaBruno responded to the area of Newark and Garden streets on a report of a residential burglary in progress, police said.

Police said, "The resident was not home when she received an alert on her phone from a camera that was set up in the apartment. She observed an unknown male in her apartment and notified the Hoboken Police Department."

Officers entered the residential building, made their way to the apartment, and found the apartment door unsecure with pry marks on the locking mechanism.

They entered and located a suspect inside. The suspect was identified as Fernando Rosario, 45, from Hoboken.

Rosario was placed under arrest searched incident to his arrest. Rosario was found to be in possession of a screwdriver, police said.

Rosario was transported to police headquarters and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, and criminal mischief.

The charges were placed on a summons and Rosario was released with a court date.
