Hudson County Animal Shelter Adopts Out 88 Animals During Valentine Event

The grand total of adoptees stood thusly: 63 cats, 24 dogs and two guinea pigs.

HOBOKEN, NJ — When the Liberty Humane Society’s fee-waived Valentine adoption extravaganza was over, the grand total of adoptees stood thusly: 63 cats, 24 dogs and two guinea pigs.

According to the Hudson County shelter, which serves Hoboken and Jersey City, the successful event had two positive effects. It helped to “shine a light on pets who struggle to find the right adopter” while helping to find the space and resources needed to get the shelter through the start of spring.

“Warmer weather just around the corner means more cats, more kittens, and more dogs in need of our help, so we try to prepare by placing as many of our current residents as we possibly can before these newcomers steal the spotlight,” LHS staff stated in an email newsletter.
