Hudson County Dog Beaten, Needed Emergency Surgery: Shelter

Hudson County, NJ – A Hudson County animal shelter has good news… Feather will be able to afford the medical treatment that she deserves.

According to a social media post from the Liberty Humane Society, which services Hoboken and Jersey City, staff were seeking donations to help pay for medical care for an allegedly abused dog.

“Feather was brought in by Jersey City Animal Control with her two 5 month-old puppies after she was allegedly badly beaten by her owner. Her leg was broken, she had cuts all over her body, and a lump on her jaw. She is currently undergoing emergency surgery to realign her femur at an orthopedic specialist. Feather is an incredibly sweet dog who, despite her injuries, is still loving and trusting of people. Feather deserves a home where she will be healthy, safe, and protected from now on.”

Several online commenters expressed their shock and disgust over the alleged abuse.

  • “This just made me cry at my desk at work. How on earth could anyone do that to a loving dog. I hope that low life is in jail and gets the same treatment.... If not worse.”
  • “What is wrong with people, I hope she makes a full recovery and she finds the most loving home for her and her babies as well. Bless you for all you guys do for these animals.”
  • “This is incredibly sad and it really brings a lot of anger. I do hope the person gets some jail time. I am also amazed that she is still sweet. Dogs are amazing creatures.”
