North Jersey Lawyer Matthew Nilo, Accused In Boston Rapes, Is Free On Bail
Matthew Nilo of Weehawken, charged with several attacks on women in Boston, has been freed on $500K bail until the next hearing.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Attorney Matthew Nilo, the 35-year-old Weehawken resident who's been charged in the rapes and attacks of four women in Boston in 2007 and 2008, posted $500,000 bail on Monday and has been freed, according to media reports.
However, Nilo — whom police identified based on recent DNA technology — must wear a monitoring bracelet, had to surrender his passport, and must stay away from the area where the incidents were reported, the Associated Press said.
Nilo made international headlines earlier this month after a group of Boston and New Jersey-based investigators headed to his home on the Weehawken waterfront and arrested him in connection with four attacks on women in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston. So far, he faces three aggravated rape charges, a kidnapping charge, and other charges.

One 2007 rape victim told Good Morning America last week that she was a club promoter in Boston at the time. She said a man pulled up to her and offered her a ride. She declined, then realized he had a gun.
She said she still remembers her rapist's dark eyes.

Nilo was recently engaged, according to a now-deleted Facebook post, and has been living with his fiancee in Weehawken. He's been suspended from his New York City-based job as a cyber attorney.
He has pleaded not guilty in the crimes.
Police are now trying to connect him to crimes near other places in which he lived. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and went to law school in San Francisco, according to his LinkedIn page, which was deleted this month.
Nilo must return to court on July 13.
