Hudson County Shelter, ESU Rescue Trapped Dog (Video)
Watch a rescue effort to free a "dehydrated and terrified dog" that got trapped between a door and a security gate in Hudson County.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — It was one of the stranger emergencies the Liberty Humane Society’s Animal Response Team handled on Wednesday. But thankfully, it ended with a rescue.
The nonprofit, Hudson County-based animal shelter - which services Hoboken and Jersey City - recently shared a video of a rescue effort to free a “dehydrated and terrified dog” that got trapped between a door and a security gate on Palisade Avenue in Jersey City.
Eventually, the Jersey City ESU came to help pop the lock on the door and rescue the dog. And key to the rescue was the “gentle” hand of a Liberty Humane Society animal control officer, the shelter said. (See video below)

LHS Executive Director Irene Borngraeber told Patch more about the rescue effort:
“Initially, a call came in about a constantly barking dog. We had no idea before our ACO got to the scene that the dog was going to be trapped. The neighbors apparently heard her barking for hours and called it in as a nuisance complaint. When (ACO) Felix arrived, he saw that she was trapped between the door and security gate. [Felix] attempted to get into the building to find out who the owner was. Nobody was home or answering the bell.”
Because it was 75 degrees and sunny and the dog was exposed to the sun, the LHS called the Jersey City ESU to help get the door open, Borngraeber said.

The incident appears to have been an accident, Borngraeber said.
“It’s thought that she got trapped, and the door closed without her owners realizing that she was there and she got stuck,” Borngraeber said, adding that dog is owned and has been reclaimed.
