Hudson County: Starbucks, Krispy Kreme Locations Opening Near PATH Stations

The daily grind is about to get a little sweeter for PATH train riders in Hudson County.

Hudson County, NJ - The daily grind is about to get a little sweeter for PATH train riders in Hudson County.

Plans are in motion to build new Starbucks and Krispy Kreme locations in close proximity to two PATH stations in Jersey City.

Last week, the Port Authority of NY/NJ announced that its Board of Commissioners approved a 10-year lease agreement PATH’s Journal Square Transportation Center with coffee retailer Starbucks.

“The addition of new retail businesses in the Journal Square Transportation Center will enhance the experience for the 37,000 commuters who travel through the transportation facility daily,” said Port Authority Chairman John Degnan. “We are pleased that a nationally renowned company like Starbucks has chosen to open a new outlet in this PATH facility, bringing with it not only more dining options but jobs and economic activity.”

Anticipated to open in early August, the lease with Starbucks will generate $1.4 million for the Port Authority over the 10-year span in exchange for 2,079 square feet of retail space on the center’s plaza level, officials said.

Additionally, the lease agreement allows the Journal Square Starbucks to establish an outdoor seating area, Port Authority officials said.

DONUTS

In addition, after announcing that it would be bringing six new stores to undisclosed locations in Hudson and Bergen County, Krispy Kreme may have finally decided on a spot for one near the Grove Street PATH station in Jersey City.

According to permits in the window of the old PNC Bank space at 95 Christopher Columbus Drive, the space is currently being demolished to make way for a new Krispy Kreme donut shop, JerseyDigs.com reported.
