Hudson County SWAT Team Arrests Hoboken Teen In Shooting
The man was arrested early Friday morning in connection with an incident in Union City last month.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said that on Friday morning, authorities charged a 19-year-old Hoboken man in connection with a shooting that occurred on Third Street and Bergenline Avenue in Union City on Aug. 26.
Terrence Torres, 19, of Hoboken, was arrested at approximately 6 a.m. on Friday, after officers with the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team executed a search warrant without incident at an apartment on Harrison Street in Hoboken. During the search, officers recovered a firearm, Suarez said.
Torres has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, receiving stolen property, and possession of a defaced firearm.

Suarez said that on Aug. 26, just before midnight, members of the Union City Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the area Third Street and Bergenline Avenue. Responding officers found shell casings at the scene as well as two cars that had been struck. A victim reported to officers that he was shot at while riding a bicycle in the area but was not injured.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Regional SWAT, the Union City Police Department, the Hoboken Police Department, and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and K-9 Unit for the investigation and arrest.

The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven
guilty.
