Witherspoon’s family and friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help defray funeral expenses.

His family shared a message about the campaign:

“On Thursday night at the age of 16, Ronald Witherspoon Jr. was pronounced dead due to a gun shoot wound to the head. Ronald Jr. was just yards away from his house when it happened. This tragic event was unexpected and caught many off guard. Ronald had a heart of gold and was loved by many. We are raising money to give Ronald Jr. the proper Homegoing Celebration.”
