I, Lego: Hoboken Charter School Students Earn Spot In National Robot Competition

The Hoboken Charter School's Robotics Team also won the First Lego League's "Rookie Inspiration Award."

These kids can probably build a better Lego robot than you.

Hoboken Charter School’s Robotics Team, led by middle school mathematics teacher Christopher Kunkel, participated in the First Lego League (FLL) Robotics Competition at Clifton High School on Nov. 21, placing in the top ten out of all competing schools and earning a spot in the FLL State Competition.

Additionally, the team won the FLL’s “Rookie Inspiration Award.”

According to a release, the FLL is a national competition with students competing from across the country, focusing on the areas of science and technology. Comprised of ten students in grades six, seven and eight, this was the first year for Hoboken Charter School’s Robotics Team.

The group built and programed a robot around this year’s theme, Trash Trek, as part of the competition.
