Lincoln Tunnel Delays Due To ‘Over-Height’ Vehicle: 6/18

Port Authority officials temporarily closed the south and north tubes of the Lincoln Tunnel on Monday afternoon, resulting in traffic delays, authorities said.

The Port Authority of NY/NJ issued the following advisory at 2:17 p.m. on June 18:

“The Lincoln Tunnel to NY is experiencing a delay of 15 minutes due to an over-height vehicle. The South Tube to NY is closed for operational activity.”

Port Authority officials announced that the North Tube to New Jersey was closed as well:

“The Lincoln Tunnel North Tube is closed to NJ due to police activity.”

Port Authority officials reported that the alerts were no longer in effect prior to the evening rush hour with “residual delays.”

According to WCBS Traffic, a truck reportedly struck the ceiling as it went through the South Tube portion of the tunnel.
