Rapper 50 Cent's Hoboken Booze Biz Swindler Confesses, Prosecutors Say
A man who worked for a Hoboken-based cognac business run by rapper 50 Cent took much more than that in kickbacks, prosecutors said.
HOBOKEN NJ — A man who worked for a Hoboken-based liquor business wned by rapper 50 cent pleaded guilty to using the company to defraud much more money than that, prosecutors say.
Mitchell E. Green, 44, of Westport, Conn. pleaded guilty in New Jersey federal court Monday to wire fraud after taking around $2.19 million in kickbacks while working for Sire Spirits, owned by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
Green caused the company to overpay for champagne and cognac, while he collected $2.19 million in kickbacks, prosecutors said.

"Though he was supposed to negotiate the best deal possible for his employer, Green set up secret side deals to inflate what his employer paid so that he could reap millions of dollars in kickbacks," U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said. "Companies must be able to rely on the integrity of their agents to conduct business."
He added, "When employees violate that trust and engage in fraud — like the defendant did here — this Office and our law enforcement partners are prepared to hold them accountable."

Green worked for the company from 2017 to 2020.
The charge of wire fraud is punishable by a potential maximum prison term of 20 years, and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross profits.
Green will be sentenced on Jan. 23, 2024.
Separately, 50 Cent filed a lawsuit, against Green, and won.
