Jersey City Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Woman He Met At Hoboken Bar

A Jersey City man, 23, was charged with sexually assaulting a woman he had met at a Hoboken bar, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Jersey City man was charged on Thursday with sexual assaulting a woman he had met at a Hoboken bar, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Kenny Arceda, 23, on Thursday and charged him with one count of second-degree sexual assault, prosecutors said.

They said the crime occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 4 in the vestibule area of a building on the 100 block of Washington Street. That block is in a densely populated area of bar/restaurants four blocks from the Hoboken train station.

The 20-year-old victim was an acquaintance of Arceda, and had previously met him at a bar in Hoboken, the prosecutor's office said.

They said Arceda was arrested in West Orange and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a detention motion to be heard on Thursday, Nov. 10.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest, with assistance from the Hoboken Police Department. Anyone who wants to report a sex crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234.
