Police: Pursuit began in area of Fifth and Jackson streets.

A West New York man led Hoboken police on a car chase down a one-way street early Thursday morning, but told police that he didn’t know why he fled.
According to Hoboken police, the incident took place around 1:37 a.m., when two officers on patrol in the area of 5th and Jackson streets saw a gray Nissan Altima improperly back into an intersection.
In an effort to stop the vehicle to issue a summons, the officers began circling the block when they saw the Altima speed away.
