Man Sentenced For Killing Father Of 3 In BJ's Parking Lot In Jersey City
A Florida man was sentenced in the 2021 fatal shooting of a father of three in the parking lot of BJ's in Jersey City.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Florida man has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison after being convicted of the shooting death of a 34-year-old Jersey City father of three in a parking lot in 2021.
Ariel Dumit, 38, was sentenced Monday by Judge Carlo Abad, who was convicted after a two-week trial of the murder of Christian Parra, 34, of Jersey City.
Dumit was also convicted of weapons posessions charges.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at approximately 8:18 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police
Department responded to the BJ’s Parking Lot at 396 Marin Blvd. in Jersey City on reports
of a shooting.
Parra was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9 p.m.

Dumit was arrested in Florida two months later and extradited to New Jersey.
On a GoFundMe for Parra's family, his sister wrote, "On Sunday February 28, 2021 my brother Christian Lee Parra was taken from us. In an instant his life was cut short for no logical reasoning. The life of a good man was taken in a moment's notice. We will never understand or comprehend this ill fated action or ever forget this godforsaken day."
The fundraiser has raised $26,000 so far.
