HOBOKEN, NJ — There are a little over seven hours left to vote in Hoboken's council and school board elections today, as well as countywide and state legislative races. Come back to Hoboken Patch starting at 8 p.m. tonight to see the results.
Note: Patricia Waiters has dropped out of the 2nd Ward council race, but her name is still on the ballot. (She's still among the four women running in the school board race for three seats.)

"Many Hoboken elections have been decided by a handful of votes. So every vote counts!" noted incumbent 5th Ward Councilman Phil Cohen today. He's among those running for re-election to represent their ward.
2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, also running for re-election, said voting was slow in the morning. "So far about 350 people have voted in the 2nd Ward at the seven polling locations. Another 350 have voted early and by mail. So only 700 people have voted! In 2019, almost 2000 people voted in the 2nd Ward election," she wrote in a newsletter shortly after noon.

Remember that members of the nine-member City Council are paid $35,000 or more per year part-time, so the job requires more than just voting. (In 2021, a majority of council members, although not all, voted to hike their salaries six weeks after their election.)
