Massive traffic delays were reported throughout much of New Jersey Monday as commuters dealt with the impact of an explosion at the Port Authority bus terminal in New York City (see list below).
The Lincoln Tunnel was experiencing perhaps the heaviest delays after the explosion happened at about 7:30 a.m., police said. The station and the A, C and E subway lines in New York City were evacuated at the bus station, police said.
Governor Chris Christie issued the following statement regarding the explosion:

I urge all New Jerseyans to be alert and that if they see something unusual, to report it to law enforcement immediately

Police have arrested a man in connection with an explosion inside the bus terminal, the NYPD said. The suspect was carrying a pipe bomb in his backpack inside the terminal when it exploded unintentionally, a law enforcement source told Patch.
The AP reported the suspect's name as 27-year old Ullah Akayed, and MSNBC reported that the man apparently set off the explosion "in the name of ISIS." (see below)
The suspect was injured and is in custody at Bellevue Hospital, the law enforcement source said. No one else was hurt, the NYPD said. The suspect reportedly had been wearing an explosive device and that the police had partially stripped him, according to The New York Times. The suspect was alone, and the device was reported to have gone off prematurely.
