Medical Marijuana-Friendly Doctor Opening Hoboken Office
"Medical marijuana should be available to all patients with the approved diagnoses, without the stigma and the barriers in place now."
HOBOKEN, NJ — A Bridgewater-based doctor is planning to open a medical marijuana evaluation office in Hoboken.
David Boguslavsky, a family doctor in Central Jersey, has been seeing medical marijuana patients for the past few years. And while cannabis isn’t a “panacea that treats everything without side effects,” he’s witnessed the positive effects it can have with his own eyes.
When its up and running in December, Premier Medical Marijuana’s satellite location at 500 Bloomfield Street in Hoboken will offer the same evaluation services that almost 1,000 patients have used to get a medical marijuana recommendation in Bridgewater.

Does Hoboken need more doctors who are willing to prescribe medical marijuana? According to Boguslavsky, the answer is a resounding yes.
But he didn’t always think so, he told Patch.

“Up until I got involved in the New Jersey medical marijuana program, I would have answered the question above firmly in the in the negative,” Boguslavsky said. “However, I have seen so many patients and have heard so many stories of clinical success with medical marijuana therapy, that I strongly believe there should be more doctors helping patients enroll in the program.”
A database of doctors on the state’s medical marijuana website shows six physicians in Hoboken: two on Washington Street, two on Monroe Street and one on Willow Avenue. However, as recently as 2015, there were no Hoboken doctors listed on the database.

“At the end of the day, medical marijuana is no panacea that treats everything and does it without side effects,” Boguslavsky said. “But it’s a terrific therapeutic option in many cases where traditional approaches are suboptimal (opiates for pain) or are unacceptable for patients (anxiolytics for many patients with anxiety).”

“I now believe that medical marijuana should not be siloed to the occasional office here and there,” Boguslavsky said. “It should be out in the open, available to all patients with the approved diagnoses, without the stigma and without the barriers in place now.”
