New Companies, Repaved Streets and New Parking Rules Coming to Hoboken
Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer delivered her State of the City address Tuesday night.

New companies are moving to Hoboken, more than 50 blocks of city streets will be repaved this year, and changes are coming to the city’s parking rules, according to Mayor Dawn Zimmer.
Zimmer delivered her State of the City address Tuesday evening at the Stevens Institute of Technology.

- Pearson Education is opening its headquarters in the city.
- Jet, an e-commerce startup, plans to open its headquarters on the waterfront in the spring.
- An independent bookstore is expected to open in May.
- The city plans to repave more than 50 blocks of city roads this year.
- The city plans to make pedestrian safety improvements at 11 targeted intersections.
- The waiting lists for parking in most municipal garages have been eliminated.
- New parking meters will also be installed, city-wide, on all visitor sides of the streets this year. That new parking program will still allow anyone with a permit to park for free. Drivers without permits will be allowed to use their smartphones to pay for parking.
