New Hoboken Soda Club Is About More Than Club Soda

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken's got plenty of bars, but why not meet people who enjoy tasting something a little different? A local business called Play! Hoboken, which provides a space for playing board games and indoor sports on the west side of town, recently launched the Hoboken Soda Club for tastings and events.

Hoboken Soda Club brings craft sodas to the area. Besides on-site tastings, they offer soda variety packs and single bottles for purchase. There is also the option to borrow board games from the store’s library "for the perfect night of soda and fun for anyone," they say.

In a press release, the business announced, "In store tastings will take place every Thursday at Play! Hoboken for an event price of $9" starting this week. This includes a taste of six unique craft sodas, as well as free board game play. Additional options and prices can be found at www.hobokensodaclub.com.

Some of the more unique flavors offered include Hank’s Caramel Apple, Avery’s Alien Snot (yes, you got that right), Kiwi Blue Raspberry, and Cookie Dough Bites Red Velvet.

Soda clubs have popped up around the country, with some for people who are trying to quit drinking, and others who just enjoy the taste.

The Club organizers said, "Craft soda 'super-fans' can also sign up to receive weekly variety packs including six different sodas. Members sign up for a four-week commitment of great-tasting soda. This can also be combined with board game rental for soda club members. Soda pickups began on Tuesday, Dec. 8, but you can come pick up your soda anytime!"

They note, "Joining the club is a great idea for any family or friend group that loves to have a great time trying out new things together. It’s also great for times like right now, when you might be stuck indoors wondering just what there is to do on a Friday night."
