New Ice Cream Shop, Maroons Creamery, To Open In Hoboken

HOBOKEN, NJ — A new ice cream shop is coming to upper Washington Street in Hoboken, replacing a former urgent care.

Maroons Creamery has placed signage on the former uptown location of PromptMD at 1122 Washington St.

Earlier this year, a display in the same window indicated that Surreal Creamery, a popular ice cream and tea restaurant with locations in New York City, Westfield, and New Brunswick, was coming to the site.

Surreal offers ice cream sundaes in Mason jars, festooned in toppings from cereal to syrups. They also offer "Floteas," Bubble teas, and shakes. The chain has added locations in Dallas Texas and Ridgewood, NJ, and is coming soon to Morristown.

So how will Maroons differ from Surreal?

No word yet, but this week, they said in a statement, "Welcome to Maroons Creamery, where ice cream dreams come true. We're the ice cream mad scientists who love turning simple ingredients into extraordinary flavors, textures, and experiences that will leave your taste buds doing a happy dance."
