NJ Mobster, 91, Who Put Hit On Gotti Is Denied Release From Prison

NEW JERSEY —A federal judge has denied a request for a 91-year-old Genovese crime family member, who was once convicted of putting a hit on John Gotti, to be released from prison, NJ.com reported on Wednesday.

Hudson County native Louis "Bobby" Manna, who is referred to in the story as the former consigliere of the Genovese crime family, was sentenced to 80 years in prison in federal court in 1989 of helping plot to kill Gambino crime family head John Gotti, as well as other crimes.

Manna’s attorney, Jeremy Iandolo of Brooklyn, said in a court filing last month that Manna has Parkinson's disease and "is no longer a threat to society," NJ.com reported.

But U.S. District Judge Peter G. Sheridan said, “He was a leader of the Genovese crime family, a role he performed through violence and intimidation. His numerous crimes were extremely serious and heinous."
