Port Authority Says No Travel To NY: Airport, Tunnel/Bridge, PATH and Bus Status

Port Authority officials enacted a travel ban to New York City for Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m.

In order to protect public safety “due to prevailing blizzard conditions,” the Port Authority of NY/NJ will implement a travel ban into New York City, requiring the agency’s bridges and tunnels to close as of 2:30 p.m. on Saturday until further notice.

This includes the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing, authorities stated.

Only authorized emergency vehicles will be allowed until the crossings are considered safe to reopen, authorities stated.

“These closures are designed to ensure safety of the public during the height of the storm... The Port Authority will look to reopen the tunnels and bridges when conditions permit,” authorities stated.

Additionally, with all bus service already suspended at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, the facility itself will also close at 4 p.m. today until further notice.
