No Threat During Hoboken ‘Hazardous Materials’ Spill: Officials

Hoboken Mayor: "There was an incident created by PSE&G that has since been remediated and contained."

HOBOKEN, NJ — A hazardous materials spill in Hoboken on Thursday didn’t pose a threat to residents in the area, authorities said.

According to the Hoboken Fire Department, the spill took place on 7th Street between Jackson and Monroe. It was immediately removed by contractors on the scene, officials said.

“We have confirmed that the material involved does not pose a threat to residents,” the HFD stated Thursday. “Repairs are underway.”

Hoboken Mayor Ravinder Bhalla released a statement about the incident on Twitter:

“Just left the scene at 7th and Monroe. There was an incident created by PSE&G that has since been remediated and contained. This incident poses no threat to public safety. Thank you to @HobokenPD @HobokenFire @HobokenOEM for their quick response in handling the issue."
