HOBOKEN, NJ — After Hoboken's temporary Northwest Resiliency Park was closed in fall 2019, residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the final park. Now, the first section of the park is set to open Monday afternoon with a public ribbon cutting.

Councilman Phil Cohen said in his newsletter this past week, "Monday afternoon, please join me and members of our community at a celebratory ribbon-cutting of the multi-purpose athletic field at the Northwest Resiliency Park, just in time for the spring season!

"While construction on the larger Northwest Resiliency Park continues, and the larger park is set to open this summer, Monday marks a major milestone."

Ulitmately, the full 5-acre park will have ground infrastructure to withhold up to 2 million gallons of rainwater to help mitigate local flooding. It will also have a multipurpose athletic field, Great Lawn, terrace, and pavilion.

The ribbon-cutting will tentatively take place Monday, April 3, at 3:30 p.m. at 12th and Jefferson streets.
