The students that come to my school all say the same thing-I can't draw a straight line. Is it wrong of me to be brutally honest with them-to tell them that I too must use a ruler for such endeavors? And don't get me started on perfect circles-the coffee cup trace never works, and besides, how many times in your life do you need to have an exact circle?? I should have a basket at the door-leave all pre-conceived ideas here, along with everything else you've learned elsewhere. Be prepared to be amazed, because when you're done with your painting-people may start calling you 'artist', and that kind of nickname tends to stick.
