PATH Brings In Musicians, Poets To Brighten NJ Passengers’ Rides
Musicians, poets, dancers and comedians will put on free shows at PATH stations in New Jersey to make the daily commute friendlier.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The Port Authority of NY/NJ will debut a new series of public performances at PATH stations across Hudson County on Thursday.
Local singers, dancers, musicians, comedians and poets will be appearing at the Hoboken, Journal Square, Harrison, Newport and Exchange Place PATH stations as part of the “2019 PATH Performs! Series.”
The Grove Street station is not included due to space restrictions and other considerations. A handful of performances also are scheduled for PATH’s WTC facility, officials stated.

Port Authority officials said the series is being held to enhance the travel experience for thousands of commuters while showcasing the performers’ unique skill sets.
The performance schedule runs through October, with artists to perform primarily from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at select stations one or more times a week. A total of 22 performers have been selected to participate in the program.

Apollo Sonders, a Jersey-City based band, will kick off the program on Thursday, June 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the Harrison Station. Apollo Sonders has performed at the Bowery Electric in New York City, World Café Live in Philadelphia and the Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park.
According to Port Authority officials, PATH Performs! is a partnership with the Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs. Auditions were held in Jersey City in March.
In line with other public transit performance programs, PATH Performs! does not provide monetary compensation to performers but individual donations can be made to them, Port Authority officials said.
Performances will be permitted only in program-approved designated areas within the stations. Performers are strictly prohibited from impeding the safe flow and movement of passengers entering and exiting the stations and must adhere to performance guidelines and PATH rules and regulations, officials said.
