When Gov. Chris Christie issued a state of emergency and shut down the state’s parks on Saturday – including the Liberty House restaurant at Liberty State Park in Jersey City – it almost spelled the doom of a local couple’s wedding plans.

But displaying typical Jersey fortitude, Hoboken residents Marie Spaccarotella and Joe Carino went on to get married in the midst of the winter’s first snowstorm.

The couple wasn’t initially scared about the weather forecast, NJ.com reported.

“I figured it would look pretty,” Carino told NJ.com. “A few snowflakes... a white wedding.”

And then came the snow.

Luckily, the couple was able to move their wedding reception to the W Hotel in Hoboken, where many of their guests were staying, NJ.com reported.

Their honeymoon location? The Snow Polo World Cup in Switzerland.

“Congratulations to Marie and Joe Carino who got married at SPP last Saturday despite the blizzard,” church staff at The Catholic Community of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Hoboken wrote on Facebook.

BABY

In a different area of Hoboken, another snow-related triumph over the elements was in the works on Saturday.

The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps reported that three of its members helped to deliver a healthy baby girl around 5 p.m. as the storm raged around them.

The mother – who lives near 12th and Willow Streets - wasn’t able to make it to the hospital because of the road conditions, the Hudson Reporter stated.

Emergency responders eventually transported the new mother and her baby to the Hoboken University Medical Center where they are doing well, ABC 7 New York reported.
