Popular Hoboken Bar/Restaurant Is Latest Local Eatery To Close

After 17 years, a popular bar/restaurant on Washington Street closed for good on the last day of the year.

HOBOKEN, NJ — On the heels of several popular bar/restaurants in Jersey City recently closing their doors, a popular eatery in Hoboken has done so as well.

Mikey Squared, located in the middle of Hoboken's main drag, Washington Street, made a surprise announcement at the end of 2023.

"We are so grateful for the time we spent with you!" they wrote on social media. "Your personalities and patronage were blessings to us these 17 plus years! Dec 31st Is our last day and we are bringing back all your favorite specials including our famous Sangria Sunday $10 pitchers all day. We are open tonight and tomorrow Sunday all day including brunch! We can’t wait to be with you to end this great era!"

Fans said they'll be sorry to see the place go.

"It was an honor and a pleasure to work at such an amazing establishment," wrote one commenter.

"So sad to see this. Had been my favorite place since my kids were toddlers," wrote another customer.

Mikey Squared was located at 616 Washington St.

Last month, two longtime Jersey City restaurants and a popular store announced their closings, and on Friday, Jan. 5, Tribos Peri Peri, a Portuguese restaurant downtown, announced it will close as well. READ MORE: Another Downtown Jersey City Restaurant Says It Will Close
