Popular Mom-Run Hoboken Cafe 'The Hive' Will Open Jersey City Location

The Hive is among several local coffee shops expanding within Hudson County. Find out who else is opening in the next few months.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Two Hoboken moms who started a coffee shop in that city in 2020 will now open a second location in Jersey City, they said.

"So profoundly excited to finally announce the news that our Jersey City Hive is coming soon," they said on social media. "There’s so much more that we’ll share over the next few months while it’s under construction."

The shop has been offering third-anniversary specials this week.

The shop will open on Jersey Avenue, near the 6th Street Embankment and Hamilton Park.

The Hive is known for offering coffee, baked goods, and small gift items such as candles. They also have a playroom for kids at their Hoboken location.

Mod Cup, Tree House Also Expand

The Hive is not the only locally owned coffee shop that has expanded within Hudson County. Recently, Tree House Coffee, which was founded on Jersey City's West Side, opened a second location downtown, three blocks south of Hamilton Park. Both of their locations have a backyard with tables.

And Mod Cup, a coffee roaster and seller in Jersey City, announced over the weekend that it plans to open its Hoboken location, next to Church Square Park, in January 2024.
