Possible Flooding Amid Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Hoboken, City Says
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Hoboken. Intense rainfall could cause flooding, they noted.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After temperatures climbed from the 20s to 70 this week in a matter of days, thunderstorms may bring relief — and danger. The area is under a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight, with the potential for high winds and flooding.
The tide will likely still be high at that time, with high tide at 9:14 p.m.
A strong line of storms can be seen on the radar here, moving east toward New Jersey.

The city of Hoboken sent an alert saying:
Please be advised that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Hudson County and the surrounding area due to the possibility of severe thunderstorms until 12 a.m. Winds of greater than 40 MPH are also predicted.

The Office of Emergency Management encourages residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents are encouraged to secure all loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially on balconies. Outdoor tents should be taken down depending on wind load.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages.

Recycling collection will occur as scheduled. Residents are reminded to secure their cardboard.
